Luis Galárraga is a student in Computer Engineering specializing in Multimedia Systems at ESPOL University in Guayaquil, Guayas Ecuador. Luis is interested in free and open source software, distributed computing, Web development and multimedia systems. He discovered FOSS after a database systems course required he use GNU/Linux and PostgreSQL. This motivated Luis and several friends to establish KOKOA in 2006 which became the first university community promoting FOSS in Ecuador. The KOKOA Web site was built using Joomla!.

Mentor: Nereyda Valentin-Macias is a Web site consultant from Massachusetts with over ten years IT experience in the banking industry. Her Web site design and development experience began in 2004 and she discovered Joomla! and CiviCRM in April 2007. Neri's background includes PC repair, security, networking, and system administration with Novell, Linux and Microsoft systems. Neri credits the Joomla! developer team and community with keeping her engaged and inspiring her to participate as a GSoC mentor.
