Summary

The "menu item alias" type has a required option of the menu link you want it to be an alias of BUT it is located in the Advanced Options tab. So it is NOT an option but a Requirement therefore it should be on the first page.

It's a requirement but it is autogenerated so users do not have to fill it in so it's kind of a borderline case since no action by the user is required.

To me we still have way too much on the opening page, it's too chaotic and overwhelming for users so I'd really not want to bring more there.

You are correct that it has a default value BUT it is unlikely that the default value is actually what you want. When creating an alias menu item type the main thing you want to do is to select the menu item you want to alias to. Just as when you create a single article menu type the main thing you want to do is to link to an article and that is a required setting on the first tab. I am proposing that this menu type is handled exactly the same as all the other menu types.

That makes sense and we've done that in a couple of places already in the case of external link. So I'd use a similar fix here.
